Oulx is a town located at 1066 meters above sea level, between peaks that reach 3000m, the meeting point of two important communication routes: the one that goes through Montgenèvre to Turin and the one that arrives from the Frejus tunnel by rail and road. Located on the route of the Via Francigena towards Rome, and on the Via per San Giacomo di Compostela. The international railway station is a stop for the TGVs in the direction of Paris, London and Brussels. Historical place of considerable importance for its strategic position over the centuries it has seen alternating armies, migrations, trade and lastly tourists and pilgrims who appreciate the climatic conditions, landscapes, excursions, activities, events and nature. 18 hamlets make up the territory offering a great variety for excursions, visits and overnight stays. At the foot of the Olympic mountains, site of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, the city is connected to the major ski areas that delight skiers and hikers, but also has a great variety of paths immersed in nature: two xerothermic oases, lakes for fishing and relaxation, a pond recognized as a Reserve of the Piedmont Region, and a dense network of old military dirt roads that delight 4X4 lovers, hikers and bikers. A rich calendar of events completes the offer of this urban center a few kilometers from Turin.
